Nutrition made simple:
Eat real, plant-based, whole-foods.
That’s it. That’s really all you need to do to be healthy.
- Why plant-based?
Animal-based foods have many health risks associated with their consumption. They are high in fat, highly acidic, and difficult for our bodies to process. Risk of chronic diseases such as cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and obesity are increased by the consumption of animal products.
- Why whole foods?
Processed man-made “foods” have removed many of the nutrients, and added many unwanted chemicals. They have higher caloric density, and addictive properties which cause overeating and weight gain. They also do not have the proper balance of nutrients like whole-foods do.
Our bodies will thrive on a whole-food plant-based diet.
Once you master that (or at least get close), if your goals call for it, it’s time to begin taking a more complex approach. This includes calorie counting, macronutrient balance, and possibly some supplementation.
What this means: If your goal is to “be healthy” simply eating a whole-food plant-based diet should cover it. If your goal is instead to lose weight, gain muscle, build strength, or improve performance, you will likely benefit from taking more factors into account.
